Fishing With Papaw

April 29, 2016

We spent yesterday evening on my parent’s pond fishing with my Dad. So many memories of my childhood are with a rod and reel sitting on a pond or lake with my daddy. I love that we get to do this all over again with the girls. Paisley can be out little princess one minute and then tomboy/cowgirl the next. I love that she is always up for an adventure and isn’t afraid to get her hands dirty. Or in this case, slimy. She loves catching them but isn’t sure on why we kiss them yet. We are still trying to convince her. Hehe. The light was so pretty last night. I snapped a few shots on my phone while we were outside and love this one of Paisley’s horse, Bullseye. He was such a sweet boy and posed for me. We have had a really nice spring so far and I love that it gets dark later. I am so excited for more memories made this Spring. The first of many evenings fishing for 2016.

A Day at the Park + Weekending

April 25, 2016

Sorry for the radio silence here lately. Life has been crazy and the blog has been put on the back burner. I am lucky if we have dinner and baths at a decent time these days but I wouldn’t change it for anything. Life with two girls has been so much fun.

We had a low key weekend as Zack had to work half of Saturday and all day Sunday. My mom and I had fun watching the girls play. We did everything from planting flowers, catching “blutterflies” to playing on the monkey bars and swings at the park. I love watching them explore and those sister giggles do a mama heart good.

I hope you all have a great week! The blog will be getting a makeover soon and I hope to really get back into writing with post series, more on motherhood, our farm/garden, and more! Hang in there with me.

DIY: Rustic Industrial Hamper

April 21, 2016

I am remodeling our master bedroom into a little rustic/western haven. The rest of our home is farmhouse but I wanted our space a little different. I have several projects on my list and this is probably the easiest. Right now for our laundry I am using a tall, skinny wicker basket. I wanted something more rustic but didn’t want to fork out the money for what some sites were charging for laundry storage. I love Behrens galvanized containers. We have used them for our animals, displays in Farm Girl, etc. and I love the simplistic, industrial touch that the galvanized look gives. You can use it for several decorating styles.

What you will need for this project:

  • Galvanized Trash Can (We got this 31 Gallon at Home Depot)
  • Four Casters (size is your preference)
  • Screws
  • Drill
  • Liner (unless you want to cut a board for the bottom, then you will need sander, wood, and jigsaw)

DSC_0182As mentioned above, I am just using a liner for my can so the screws sticking up a little from the bottom won’t bother me. However, if you do not want to use a liner and just throw your clothes in, I suggest buying a wood round, measure, use a jigsaw to cut the appropriate size, and screw into the bottom.
DSC_0185Next I placed my casters in quarters around the bottom of the can and screwed them in using my husband’s Milwaukee drill.DSC_0189And, that’s it! I plan on stenciling our brand as well as other cattle brands and spray painting them all over the can to add a different touch to it. 🙂
